Kitchen Island
Woodworker: Michael Brown
Michael Brown’s curvy kitchen island has rounded edges to add girth and decorative steel rails that bow out to give the spice racks room. The piece took about 80 hours to complete and features a solid-oak frame, oak plywood, poplar drawer slides and a butcher-block top. Multiple coats of polyurethane give the island durability and it sits on rubber wheel to avoid floor scuffs.
