Cherry Tool Chest
Woodworker: Tom MonahanMonahan used quarter- and riftsawn cherry for his tool chest. A frame-and-panel front slides up and out, then into the carcase to reveal the drawers. Monahan appreciated the project’s emphasis on techniques and quality craftsmanship over speed, fancy embellishments, or exotic woods, saying it allowed students to “show off their technical chops.” The finish is shellac.
