Octagonal Beech Handles
Woodworker: Darnell Hagen
Hagen turned the octagonal beech handles for this set of screwdrivers from stock left over from his bench, which appeared in the 2011-12 Tools & Shops Readers Gallery. He says they took “a ridiculous amount” of time to complete, especially the carved, semicircular detail on the ends. The handles are finished with lacquer. The steel shanks (with hardened tips) were purchased from Lee Valley, but Hagen turned the brass ferrules himself.
