Mahogany Segmented Bowl
This is my first attempt at a segmented bowl. It’s constructed of mahogany, with ebony, bloodwood and maple accents. The stringing design in the bottom is bloodwood, ebony, and holly. The 1/32″ ebony and bloodwood stringing had to be steam bent to fit the tight contours of the design, which was cut using a custom jig and router. The finish is a blend of shellac and boiled linseed oil, which is applied as a friction polish.
