Home Office Bookcase Wall
Work in progress - built-in bookcases, sans shelves.
This project took nearly 2-1/2 years of Sundays to complete. Luckily it was commissioned by my (still) very close friends, so their patience and collaboration was unlimited. This is my first built-in piece of Cabineture (name borrowed from something I’ve read, but fits!). Carcases are made from maple ply (pre-finished), face-frames made of purple heart. The shelves are also maple ply (pre-finished) with maple hardwood edges. The base cabinet doors are four solid figured maple panels each, with purple heart muntins and hand-carved pulls.

Side view detail. The end cases flared out a few degrees so the wall wasn't "flat".

The base cabinet was a project-in-a-project. Took nearly as long to complete this unit as it did the other 5, due to the complexity of the doors.

Almost forgot the CD/DVD companion case on the opposing wall.

The completed project: 11-1/2', side-to-side, floor-to-8' ceiling, plus CD/DVD unit on opposing wall.
