My “simple” veneer press/letter press
OK. I needed something I could use as a veneer press and also to flatten out brochures that came out of my laser printer with a curve, so… I decided to knock out something made out of fir with a Baltic Birch plywood platten and base. Well, after finding some beautiful Baltic Birch with a phenolic finish I started looking at other materials for the rest of it. What started out as maybe something knocked out of some 2×4’s and plywood ended up with a little classier design (note the curve) and made from red oak, stained to match the Baltic Birch’s phenolic finish (see photo).

Sweet! i just made a similar one all from baltic Birch, with two torsion boxes to form the bed and platen. Not so pretty, but heck for stout.
