Japanese-style Floor Lamp
Woodworker: Harlan Mathews
Mathews designed and built a floor lamp reminiscent of the Japanese shoji screen. To keep the rice paper flat, Mathews glued it to the inside of the lattice slats. The strips are screwed to the posts so that they can be easily removed. The lamp is made from purpleheart, maple, sycamore, and rice paper. The piece is finished with Watco oil and Watco paste wax.
