Returning Your Crosscut Sled to Pristine Condition
Reduce tearout and improve accuracy by maintaining zero clearance around the table saw bladeThe best way to avoid tearout from a table saw blade when using a crosscut sled is to maintain a zero-clearance kerf. Lon Schleining, author, stairbuilder, and woodworking instructor from Long Beach, California, shows his method for keeping the kerf of your crosscut sled snug to the blade, even after cutting miters and dadoes or making box joints. His solution guarantees an accurate kerf all the time.

Rather than putting two pieces on the sled, why not put one full one on, screw it down and run it through the blade? That way, you don't have to worry about aligning the two pieces. Overthinking strikes again. :)
