Using a Circle Cutter
Cut accurate holes and the discs to plug them up

For proper dust collection in his “ultimate router table,” Fine Woodworking shop manager John White cut a hole in the tabletop to connect the dust port with the dust-collection system. He put in another hole for an optional horizontal router attachment. This setup required not only two perfectly cut holes, but also discs to plug the holes up when not in use. In this video tip, John explains how he used an adjustable-wing circle cutter (also known as a fly cutter) to cut the holes and discs both accurately and safely.
