The Mite-R-Excel from JessEm has a head and fence made from heavy-gauge aluminum. Large and small brass locator pins adjust the miter-head setting accurately up to every half degree. You also have the option of setting the angle manually. The steel miter bar has two adjustment mechanisms to provide a slop-free fit in the miter slot. The fence and very solid flip-stop provide for 36 in. of total crosscut capacity, including the sliding fence extension. While I have several excellent miter gauges, I find myself reaching for the JessEm most often.

These clamps can handle glue-ups between 10 in. and 36 in. wide, and boards up to 3 in. thick. Sliding feet attach to the lower bars with magnets, letting you position them quickly for stability on any surface. The spring-loaded jaws adjust easily, dropping into notches along the bars. And the powerful clamp handles clear the benchtop.
The adjuster runs through the beam from a small knob at the back end right to the cutting wheel, which moves in and out as you turn the knob. This arrangement works well but makes adjustments a two-handed operation, requiring a little more effort.
