North Carolina furniture maker invents a portable fiddle he calls the 'Whipplestick'Woodworker and instrument maker Bill Whipple shows of a batch of his portable fiddles, called Whipplesticks, during our recent visit to his Asheville, North Carolina, workshop. Made from a variety of wood species, these custom instruments are compact but carry a quality sound. Learn how Whipple came up with the idea for his portable instrument in this short video.
Whipple has been designing and building furniture in the southern Appalachian mountains for over 20 years. His love of woodworking and music converge in many of the projects he builds, in addition to the Whipplestick. His portfolio of furniture invokes a musical quality.
