Installing Drawer Slides
Simple jigs and measuring tips make easy work of installing drawers with commercial metal slidesCommercial metal drawer slides are a wonder of engineering. They support heavy loads and provide smooth operation for drawers both big and small. And the newer under-mount slides from Blum are virtually invisible once installed, keeping visual clutter to a minimum. The key to a trouble-free installation is to follow some important assembly steps.
Andy Rae, a writer and furniture maker in Asheville, N.C., takes you through the process of installing the latest self-closing, under-mount slides from Blum, and illustrates how to size your drawers for a perfect fit. His technique will also work with other commercial woodworking drawer slides. For more information about the slides installed in this video, visit Blum’s Web site.
Andy Rae, is the author of Taunton’s Complete Illustrated Guide to Working with Wood and is currently working on a new book for The Taunton Press about building doors and drawers.

I didn't understand how Andy calculated the various sizes of the plywood jigs that he used to get the drawers at equal heights in his casework. I assume it is the total interior height of his casework divided by the number of drawers times the height of each drawer or what?
