Make a Wooden Benchdog
Build your own workbench jigs in a few easy steps, and save money over buying commercial versionsBenchdogs are essential for accomplishing all sorts of tasks at the workbench. These simple stops slip into the holes (square or round) on a workbench and support work in a variety of orientations. A single benchdog can be used to stop one end of a board when planing, or two benchdogs can be used to clamp a workpiece securely.
In this video, woodworker Alan Turner shares his technique for producing wooden benchdogs. A few simple cuts and some scrap wood is all it takes to produce custom benchdogs for your workbench. Turner, who operates the Philadelphia Furniture Workshop, perfected his shopmade benchdog after making dozens to outfit the eleven benches at his school.

Nice clear explanation. I need some more bench dogs for my bench and would prefer some of wood. I suppose that once yo make the basic elements of this you might be able to round the edges a bit to give yourself different angles to hold stock on the bench.
I only have round holes in my bench.
What about round bench doga?
