Woodturning Exhibition in Philadelphia
See intriguing new work by wood artists from Europe and the U.S.For the past 12 years, the Wood Turning Center, in Philadelphia, has staged an International Turning Exchange, bringing together woodturners, scholars, and photojournalists for several weeks to collaborate and experiment. Although most of the work these artists produce is made of wood, they aren’t limited in the materials they can use. This year, for example, the group produced several bowls made of concrete.
In this exclusive video, Albert LeCoff, the founder and executive director of the Wood Turning Center, takes you through the exhibit of work from this year’s International Turning Exchange. Anyone who believes that turning produces nothing but bowls and spindles will be very surprised by the inventive and kinetic quality of the pieces on display.
