On The Road: Milwaukee Fine Furnishings
Get inspired by highlights from the 2007 show: Learn about the mechanics of clockwork sculpture, building with sinker wood, and a father-and-son furniture-making teamHitch a ride with FineWoodworking.com. We traveled to the second annual Fine Furnishing & Fine Craft Show in Milwaukee last fall to check out stellar woodwork from a variety of artists. Meet Greg Arceneaux, a reproduction furniture maker who uses sinker wood salvaged from the bayous of Louisiana. Fine Woodworking readers may remember his work from FWW #171, when we featured a table that he built for a reenactment of the Louisiana Purchase.
Learn about the gigantic moving sculptures created by James Borden. The Minnesotan’s work was highlighted in FWW #178 when he won an award at the Philadelphia Furniture and Furnishings show.
Finally, see furniture by Sweitzer & Sweitzer, a father and son duo that make Shaker-inspired furniture in Champaign, Ill.
The show was chock-full of artists, furniture, and design ideas… too many to fit into this short reel of video highlights. But, look closely and catch glimpses of work by Isaac Arms from Bozeman, Montana, Joe Coutts of Glen Williams, Ont., Cappy White of Old Stones Furniture Company in Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Peter M. Wright from Cable Wisc.
