New Contemporary Craft Contest Has $5,000 Prize
Pittsburgh craft gallery is accepting entries for a biennial competition.the Society for Contemporary Craft, in Pittsburgh, is accepting entries for its 2009 Elizabeth R. Raphael Founder’s Prize, a $5,000 award for an original wood piece created within the past 12 months.
The biennial prize, first awarded in 1997, honors the founder of the craft society and is funded by her three daughters. Prizes are selected by medium: wood, glass, clay, and the like. The designated medium chanes with each biennial award. This year, the prize will be awarded to a work in wood that addresses the theme of “transformation.”
