Seventeen-in-one rabbet bit
A new rabbeting-bit set from Infinity Tools caught my eye the other day. The set consists of a 2-in.-dia. bit and 17 individual bearings. Depending on the bearing used, the one bit can make 16 different-sized rabbets; plus it works as a flush-trim bit, too.
The bit has a 1/2-in.-dia. shank and a cutter length of 1 in. With the biggest bearing in place, the bit cuts a 1/16-in.-wide rabbet; when the smallest bearing is at work, the rabbet is 3/4-in.-wide. You can even cut five metric-size rabbets; 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 18mm.
The set sells for $130. For more information, go to www.infinitytools.com. Look for a hands-on review in a future issue of Fine Woodworking.
