I favor clamps that are easy to adjust, tighten, and release. The new Gear Clamp from Jorgensen fits that bill nicely. The jaw slides easily and clamps almost instantly thanks to a cam-action ratcheting handle. It’s got some muscle, too: The 8-in. clamp generated 340 lb. of force in our test.
The Jorgensen Gear Clamp is available from Woodcraft (www.woodcraft.com) in three sizes. The 4-in. clamp sells for $25, the 8-in. for $30, and the 12-in. for $35.
