We hear it repeated a lot: Fewer young people are attracted to woodworking as a hobby. That might be generally true, but certainly not everywhere. I’m pleased to report that the craft is alive and well at Auburn High School in Auburn, Washington. With guidance from instructor Lew Keliher, students in the Woodworking & Design Program recently built 24 tables based on the article in our September/October 2008 issue, “Side Table With a Twist,” by Chris Gochnour.
In an email, Lew told us, “Over the past few years, I have used your magazine to find projects and joinery ideas for my classes. This year we (made) the “Side Table with a Twist.” Our students and parents have been very pleased with the table. Please keep the project ideas coming.”
Congratulations to Lew and his students. The tables look like… well, Fine Woodworking.
