Great Book of Wooden Toys, by Norm Marshall.
Fox Chapel Publishing, 2009.
$ 19.95; 232 pp.
This looks like a fun book. Great Book of Wooden Toys was originally published in 1986 by American Woodworker and this revised edition has new color photos and the instructions and plans have been updated. There are plans for making Trucks, Airplanes, Boats and Trains. If you’re in the market to make toys for your kids or grandkids (or anyone else) this looks like a book for you.
Personally, I like the trains the best!

This looks like a great book for a father and son to share a building experience.
Looks like some interesting projects inside.
Would love a copy... Thanks
With a grandchild to make things for it would be really useful
I'd love to have that book to give me ideas for building toys. Am I to assume your announcement about the deadline being "May 29" actually should read "June 29"? No time travel allowed!
Made wooden trains for grandson, i hpoe there's something in the book to make for my grandaughter (1 yr) when she's old enough. Thanks for the chance.
Since im now a Grandfather i would be very interested
in making toys. Looks like a good book for me.
My five year old likes to hang out in the shop with me and play with pieces of wood. Be fun to make something with him that he can play with.
I currently make wooden trucks and would love to have some new ideas on wooden toys to make for my grandchildren and others
I'd be very interested in this book.
Always looking for projects like these toys.
Wooden toys are much better then plastic ones.
Why is there a current link to a contest that ended more than a month ago?
I assume the dates referenced should be for June and not May.
I have another toy book by Marshall and am very pleased with it. I look forward to becoming familiar with this one.
HI..I would love to win this book,so that my step-son,my nephew,my guy,and I,could do a beautiful project together.We all love and appreciate wood.The feel,the smell,the color.We adore nature,and all creatures living in it.Having this books will bring us even closer,and creativity,is important,for children,for all of us.And who doesn't like wooden toys?They are the best!!!Good Luck,To everyone!!
Thanks, seajay. I've fixed the dates. I'm glad you were paying attention!
This past Christmas I had a difficult time deciding what to make for my grandchildren. My quiver of grandchildren is geting larger and I should start thinking of Christmas now (June). This book would be well used in my workshop, especially as the young'uns curiosity draws them in by my side and they want to start woodworking with me.
I have two daughters who need woodworking project ideas for 4-H. This would provide something smaller that they could do. I also love to do woodworking projects and find wooden toys the best kind around because they are pretty much indestructible unlike the toys we usually buy.

I love making different toys for the kids at a childrens hospital. This hospital cares for children with serious illness only. Most of the parents are unable to buy toys for their children. I make toys all year for these children, especially for Christmas. I could certainly use new ideas from the book. Thanks.
I would like to win this book in order to improve the wooden toys I make and that are given at the local hospital.
I have been a woodworker for many years and have always enjoyed designing and building new wooden toys for my children and my friends children. I have had the privelege of working under a master furniture builder, Rick Post and he once told me, if the toy comes back broken, you've done a good job.

Hi i'm just starting out as a wood worker and dont have no one to teach me anything i've learned everything from books and t.v. (woodworking shows)and now the web i know it's in my jeans cuz my father who i never met made his own house speakers my mom told me this and when i was a kid i use to break things in the house my mom made me fix them so i would have to ask my school shop teacher what to do but u can only get so much info when u just want to leave school from there i had the woodworking bug ever since i just started getting tools about 4-5 years ago to do stuff around my house and one thing led to another and i now have a woodworking shop in the basement sorry my story skip around but i was trying to keep it short sorry again. Everyone keep woodworking and makeing great projects, Thanks for hearing me out too God Bless! Ike
A couple o weeks ago, my 11 year old asked me if I could make him a wooden machine gun. I'm not big on kids having replica guns but I loved playing cops and robbers as a kid so I caved and decided to make him one quickly using some scrap pine on the bandsaw. He was completely awestruck and really enjoyed helping me design it and cut it out. I let him use the rasp to shape the barrel and paint it. It was a really enjoyable experience that I'd love to relive with a project from this book. Count me in.
