I just came back from participating in U.S. Rowing’s Master’s National Championships held over four days in Camden, New Jersey. Even though I rowed in the maximum allowable 6 races (and got a couple of bronze medals), that still leaves large amounts of time to kill. I took down some manuscripts to edit (Editor, please note) but I also managed to do a photo shoot with Bill Nyberg who lives only 10 miles away. He has come up with a really cool way to make boxes with rabbeted lids that you’ll read about in FWW later this year.
I like combining work and rowing on the same trip and not only does it save time but it also saves money. I’ll be rowing in the Green Mountain Head in Putney, VT on 9/27, the day after judging a woodworking show in Woodstock, VT. I also just found out that I got a place in the lottery for the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston on 10/17.
Are there any other rowing woodworkers out there? See you on the water!
