UPDATE:DVD Giveaway: Revelations on Table Saw Set-up & Safety by Hendrik Varju
Revelations on Table Saw Set-up & Safety by Hendrik Varju.
Passion for Wood, 2008.
$94.95 Canadian; 5 DVD set; 9 hrs, 55 mins.
Revelations on Table Saw Set-up & Safety by Hendrik Varju starts off with 2 hours of step-by-step, set-up procedures. The DVD then moves on to a 3 plus hour section detailing procedural techniques and safety training. Some of the topics covered in this section include what kickback is and how to avoid it; how to set-up your splitter for optimum safety; and lots more. Finally, you are given detailed instructions for creating “the most important table saw jig of all – the crosscut sled”. This DVD set has been called “Private Woodworking Instruction in a Box” and in it Varju provides a detailed course in tuning and using your tablesaw.
Our Managing Editor, Mark Schofield, reviewed the DVDs in more detail earlier on our blog. (And I’m told that Hendrik will have a new DVD title available on September 8, 2009).
Lucky Circuit Rider is the winner. His comment was chosen at random.

Add my name to the list.
By all means, count me in.
After my share of avoidable accidents on the table saw, I'm eager to learn anything useful to guide me toward a safer way.

A few years ago I was running a piece through the saw and pushing the board towards the fence. My left hanf slipped and my thumb touched the side of the blade. A shock went through my body like I fell off a cliff and hit concrete. I got lucky that time. I have taken many more precautions since then. The first precaution I've taken since then has been to rember that moment every time I use the saw. Don't taake the chance my fellow wood workers, the saw will win every time.
yes yes please
I have Hendrik's jointer and planer DVD, it is excellent. Count me in for this one.

Always looking for any tips to help setup and maintain my workhorse!
Nice DVD just what the tool doctor ordered.

Always interested in video content....saves so much time!!!
I learn better by watching a video. I would love to learn more about my table saw and especially have a video that shows how to make a table saw sled.
Sounds great. Like most woodworkers that are pretty new to the hobby, I could certainly use the help. I heard that over 38,000 people visit the emergency room each year, with table saw injuries alone. There are probably that many more who don't go to the hospital. Anyhow, I don't want to be either of the statistics.
As I have recently bought my first table saw, this would come in handy :-)
Hey there, it would be great to be included in this competition...
Must always be aware to avoid kickback. I am more afraid of this than getting cut. It would be interesting to see his approach to this.
Most often efficient set up equates with safety.
Please count me in too.
This certainly would help a newcomer with an old table saw, so much to learn and no manufacturers handbook to refer to. Thanks for the chance. Malb in Oz
