Back in July, I had the pleasure to follow belt sander racer, Scott Rhodes and his tricked-out sander, Valkryie at the National Belt Sander Racing Association World Championship held at the AWFS trade show in Las Vegas. I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of the competition, but I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised–It is racing after all.

Thanks to Scott and his race team for letting us look over his shoulder while he prepared for the race and went through the competition. Scott didn’t win, but he took home the “Judges’ Choice” trophy for having such a good-looking and innovative sander.
