Still have not learned everything there is to know. My last turned bowl was from a chunk of 2x6 pine aproximately 56 years ago. Still use it on top of my dresser to store "junk". The book by Carole Rothman sure looks intriguing.
I am a blind woodturner, not sure just how much these books will do me but would like to have them and have a reader read them to me.
I've been thinking about getting a lathe to make toothpicks with but am unsure about the savings. J/K, of course.
Have a new lathe on the wish list ... would be nice to have a new book to go with it!!! lol
I live in a small town on the Oregon coast. It is difficult and costly to get to the many training classes offered by experts. Consequently,I am in the process of honing my wood turning skills by reading and watching. I have several books and DVDs. The information presented by Raffen, Lacer, Tibbetts, and many others is invaluable if you are able to transfer what you read and observe to your chisel work at the lathe.
I am 79 and my memory is not what it used to be and I have to refer to books to refresh my memory. these books would help.
I am building a wood shop for the equipment I was left by my Dad nine years ago. Included was an old Atlas lathe from a local school woodworking shop. I have never had a place to use it. I just got a new lathe for Christmas. I really need this book.

I have been a an advocate of finewoodworking for aprox 3.5 years and consider this the best woodworking site available.
I enjoy reading about woodworking almost as much as woodworking itself. There is always something to learn here, weather to broaden ones horizons with new techniques, jigs, or types of woodworking. Thank you for all your efforts, I am sure I will enjoy your woodturning book.
