Update: Congrats to Albert P. Creto of Wallingford, Conn. He won the Stanley Bailey No. 4 smoothing plane at the Springfield show.
Join me at The Woodworking Show’s Hand Tool Rodeo in Columbus, Ohio, January 15th, 16th and 17th. I will be the featured presenter demonstrating handplane restoration at several of the presentations over the weekend.
I’ve assembled a group of Ebay sourced Stanley Bailey No.4 smoothing planes and one will be restored to better-than-new condition over the course of the weekend then raffled to a lucky winner at the end of the show. Stop by and say hello, watch a presentation or two, and put your name in the hat to win the Stanley. You don’t have to be present to win, the plane will be shipped to your door.
I’ll also be presenting at a number of Woodworking Shows around the country in the next few months and a handplane will be given away at every show, so keep track of where and when here or online at Thewoodworkingshows.com.

Are you going to be at the WWing show at Collinsville, IL Feb. 12-14 2101? We really enjoyed your FWW sessions at that show last year, even if you do own a Model A Ford. ;-)

Sorry 2010 not 2101 we may not be here by that time.

I know what you are doing and for me it has worked Very well.
I have many restore planes and I have had good luck with them. After getting a # 4,5,6 Baileys Planes from different yard sale I went to. I now use them all the time(for less then a new plane would cost for "one").
Using the info from FineWW was a big help after that. a day in the shop working and a can of spray paint the plane is back to new.
Thank you

Any chance you'll post a video of one of these events--I'd love to see you go through the process. If not, any dates in the SF Bay area?
I just got a Stanley Bailey #5 at a yard sale for $5 with all the parts and in very good shape. just needs a little tune up. Hopefully I can find a couple different ones as well.
I would enjoy a cabinet saw in my shop!!!! my shop is in the basement of the place that my family (soon wife)(1 year old son) are renting its only about 8 foot by less then 10 foot..it would be very tite but i would have a blast!!!
My bad wrong blog ladys and gents
I would like to hear a lil something on a electric hand planer its very all over it seems and could use some experiance
I know a video might be a little too much to ask; but several pictures on a blog stepping through the process would be very helpful. I just picked up an old #5 at a garage sale over the holidays that I would love to bring back to (wood)working order.
