Few things give me greater joy than sharing my love of woodworking and remodeling with my 4-year-old-son. It’s something that my father shared with me too. I remember putting on a pair of swim goggles when there was a good chance of flying debris because we didn’t have kid-sized safety glasses–maybe they didn’t exist. Hearing protection meant covering your ears. With my hearing already compromised, I’m trying to to do a better job.

These little muffs from Peltor are designed for kids up to age 7. They come in pink and blue and sell for about $13. Worn correctly, they reduce noise by 22dB. I found them at Enviro Saftey Products. The company sells muffs for older kids too.
These work gloves and safety glasses came from Lee Valley. The gloves are a little big for my 4-year-old, but I think they'll fit perfectly in a year or two. The safety glases have adjustable temples for a good fit. Lee Vallay also has goggles for kids.
