It’s been a while since I posted a call for blanket chest designs for my book. In that time, we chose 30 chests for inclusion. Scott Gibson has been working with each maker to hone their answers to our questionnaire into accompanying text for their piece. He’s also made several visits to my shop for photos that will illustrate the techniques chapters. Everything is coming together for a March 15, 2011 release date.
Props become an actual piece of furniture
So while the book project is underway, I just finished another woodworking project using “leftovers” from creating the book. I needed to build some “stunt parts” for technique photos and chose poplar. I sized some of these props so that they could become part of a new piece called “boxseat”.
The poplar box–its frame and panel bottom, and its sliding, dovetailed tray–moved from the photos, into this piece. I’m offering it for sale, here, in the FW classified ads. If you would like to own part of this book and need storage and seating at the foot of your queen sized bed, here’s your chance.
