New cabinet saw from SawStop
SawStop’s newest Professional Cabinet Saw has a 1 3/4 hp motor that runs on 120-volt power. It shares the same cabinet and many of the features found on the 220-volt Professional Cabinet Saw, but its motor is more closely related to the one on SawStop’s Contractor Saw.
All the tools in the SawStop lineup have a unique blade-stopping brake to prevent injury. The new saw will be available in August with prices starting around $2300.

On my wish list :)
Folks should also check out the Original Jimmy Jig ( OJJ ), designed by DIY'er Seumas McCombie. You can find his videos on YouTube on his channel ( seumas2 ). He mentions the Saw Stop in some of his videos. I'd love to see Fine Woodworking run a current article on his work, as it will be an encouragement to woodworkers internationally.
2300$???? May as well be a million dollars. Maybe I can be an idiot, cut myself on a cheaper saw, win a lawsuit lottery and afford one of these saws.
Personal safety can be in your head - think before doing stupid things.
And personal safety can also cost money - buy the right equipment.
The government is too intrusive but they sometimes get it right - like mandating seat belts for autos.
This SawStop technology is so amazing it should be mandated.
Yes, it is expensive but with the benefits of mass merchandising, the cost would be greatly reduced.
Once you lose a digit or two, or 1/2 a hand, your life is changed forever.
Buy it now, take a loan, put it on layaway, whatever. Don't get any other saw.
There are so many tablesaws out there that any government mandate could cause a woodworkers' recession. What would really save the day would be an aftermarket adaption of SawStop technology that could be applied to a broad range of other makes. Surely this could be marketed for less and could be a better profit center than a full SawStop machine. Other makes may object for some marketing reasons, but imagine - SawStop technology on a Unisaw!
The shop I work in has one of these saws, the 220v version. The saw stop safety feature is awsome but I doubt if it could be retro fitted on another brand saw. There's a lot going on in the guts. A word of warning be sure and disengage the safety before cutting pressure treated wood or brass plates (for plaques) it will drop the blade like a rock and it will cost you $50-60 bucks. This system works on a low voltage circuit making contact and actuating the stop. The saw over all is real sweet a pleasure to use.
