If any readers will be in Vermont this Saturday the managing editor will be helping judge the Vermont Woodworking Design Competition. Held in the Union Arena on route 4 near Woodstock, the show is open this weekend from 10-5 and admission is $10.
This is the 7th annual event and if it is like the last ones I’ve been to there will be a wealth of furniture to admire, draw inspiration from and perhaps even buy.
I’ll be wearing a dark blue shirt with Fine Woodworking on it and with a camera strung around my neck so if you have any ideas for the magazine, complements or criticism feel free to grab me. Regular contributor to the magazine, Phil Lowe, will be one of my fellow judges.
You can learn more about the show at www.vermontwoodfestival.org and the accompanying Forest Festival Weekend at the nearby Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park at www.nps.gov/mabi.

This is a great show. Well worth it if you are within a few hours of getting there.
As mentioned, it is simultaneous with the Marsh-Billings National Historic Park 'Open House Forest Weekend' - http://www.nps.gov/mabi/planyourvisit/forest-festival-weekend.htm
Shuttles run back and forth between the Union Arena and the Park.
Get to the Arena at opening - 10AM. You will be able to cover it OK in 3 hours - then leave at 1 PM for Marsh-Billings.
