I’ve been working with Houston furniture make Clark Kellogg recently. He’s a graduate of the College of the Redwoods and has a very cool set of shopmade tools for making delicate dovetails. They’ll be featured in an upcoming issue of the magazine. Clark is also a great designer. His bench from salvaged cyprus won our “Waste Knot, Want Knot” contest. It also won an Award of Merit at the 2010 Craft Texas show, one of three given out. At the show, he was interviewed by a local NPR show. (Listen to the interview. Clark’s segment starts about 4:40 in, but the first segment is interesting, as the host speaks to one of the jurors.) And I strongly recommend checking out more of his work at his website. My favorite piece is “10 Small Boxes Huddled Together for Warmth.”
