Fundamentals of Model Boat Building provides information, along with detailed photos, so the reader can successfully create an accurate model boat from scratch, including structural elements, paper model renderings, hull features, and mechanical drawings. The book includes all the steps necessary to build a model of the “Annie Buck,” an actual Chesapeake Bay “Deadrise” workboat and then you can take that new knowledge to create your own models. The book also includes a gallery of various models to provide inspiration. This seems like a pretty intense book but if you want to build model boats, this book will show you how to do it all.

Boat models are something I hope to tackle someday. The symmetry, the thin stock and the waterproof challenges make building model boats challenging. I hope this book provide meaningful advice.

At the rate my attempt to get into woodworking is going, this may be a good way to go. No large tool investment, and something I can do in my apartment without disturbing the neighbors. Now all I have to do is win the book!

An old boat builder once said to me in passing that "...it is best to get your designing done on the model..." Even as simple as some models are they can be very instructive. I will be happy to have a copy of this book should I be lucky enough to win.
My shipwright Grandfather left me a model squRe rigged ship which I have yet to complete. Winning this tome might be just the push I need to get started on building it. Here's to hoping!

Few woodworking projects will draw attention in a room faster than a well-crafted model boat. This book would be a great step towards achieving that goal!
My Great Grand Father, originally from Sweden, was a trained cabinet maker and upon arriving in the US, found a job at the Mare Island Shipyards in the bay area. There he was tasked with building scale models of the warships made in the yard. To this day, his finest achievement is on display at the Maritime museum near Fisherman's Warf in San Francisco, the USS California. A full 12 ft long and filled with detail. I have always marveled at the skill and dedication it took. This book would help me follow in his very large footsteps and honor his memory.

Since I was very young, I've been fascinated with model boats.
I built my first and last 9 1/2 foot boat in high school. It ran really fast with a 9 1/2 horse Firestone outboard motor.
I made model boats when I was young, now I'm doing the interior of a sail boat. would like to make models again when I retire
I would certainly have some fun with this! this book would prove useful!

My father and I built our first model sailboat named "Eventually" from scratch over 25 years ago. We had a brochure from the manufacturer and scaled up the tiny 3 view drawing. She was built from pine and bondo (mostly bondo). We added radio control equipment some years later. She sails fine now but we still joke about how the boat may someday be finished, thus the name. It is a project that I will someday pass on to my young boys.

Please include me in the drawing. It has been years since I have built a model boat and it would be fun to do again. I helped a friend build a full size cruise & ski boat back in the late 50's and had a lot of fun doing that too.
