Somehow between planing, sanding, assembly, finishing, and installing hardware, projects always seem to pick up nicks and dings. “Shop rash,” some of us call it. And Rockler has the solution. It is a simple mat, made of recycled rubber, with the perfect consistency for assembly and dry-fitting: soft enough to protect wood surfaces but firm enough that the hits from my dead-blow mallet can do their job. At 24-in. by 60-in., it covers the top of most benches. Funny how a thin rubber mat was the tool I was missing.

Veritas Micro-Adjust Wheel Marking Gauge
