With smooth, precise adjustments and wonderful balance, this compact block plane is a joy to use. It doesn’t have any bells and whistles, but there’s not a better block plane available for the money.
I have owned one of these Woodriver block planes for a few years and used it enough to have an opinion. The plane has quite a bit of mass which help with momentum through a cut. The blade is thick enough to not chatter and sharpens up well. The plane works well and does its job. However, this plane is the most uncomfortable plane I own. The rear handle is high compared to other block planes I own due to the blade locking mechanism. The handle forces my hand into a very uncomfortable position. The edge of the handle and plane body have a fairly stout edge which is another elements of discomfort. While the plane does its job well, it is not my go to block plane. It is just too uncomfortable in the hand.
