Just got a lathe a few weeks ago so this would be great to have
Count me in for the drawing of Turning Wood.
I need that book so I would have a good excuse to get a lathe.
I bought one of his turning videos on VHS years ago and it is one of my favorite shows to watch. Watching him turn at high speed and turning out balls to throw out on his lawn is a pleasure to watch. I would love his book
With any luck this book will be mine before it is warm again and I fire up the lathe again.
Ought to be due for a win.
Count me in for the book about the lathe. We have a lathe that we have never used.
Richard is a master craftsman and as a relative beginner ,thi book would help me improve own skills

This would definitely improve my (very amateur) technique on the lathe! Here's hoping...
This would be the perfect companion to my newly restored Delta lathe.
that would make a nice addition to my library of woodworking books
Thanks for the opportunity!
turning is on "the list" this book would definitely bump it up a bit.
thanks for the chance!
I have a very old but very good Raffan video, I'd love to check out this book.
About to began class in woodturning. what a great addition this would be to my library
This would be a great partner to his DVD which I own.
I've perused this book before and it looks very good. As a novice turner, it would be great to add to my library.
This would be an excellent addition to my turning
Would love to win a copy.
Thanks!

I'm hoping to turn some pens for groomsmen gifts later this year, would love to see the tips that this book could offer me!
Richard is a premiere turner.
I would enjoy reading this book!
I have been intrigued with the turning concept. The more I explore, the more I want to get into this side of woodworking.
I normally do things in a big way and am exploring the Robust line and the Oneway line of lathes. I am fascinated by all the features on these units and for what they can do. But, it is still up to the operator to make good parts.
I am looking forward to reading your book on turning wood.
I've watched his videos and have been enthralled by his work for years. I'd follow him like the Pied Piper to wood turning class.
Looking forward to learning new techniques from a
World Class wood turner.
Being a novice wood turner this would be a great source to learn from. I like his videos.
This would go nicely with all the other excellent books I have from Richard.
I love woodturning, it has saved my sanity for the fifteen odd years I've been doing it. I think the rule that is most important is to be gentle.Gentle from roughing out to hollowing and finishing. Gentle sharpening tools. I had a mentor who taught me how to make Northumbrian small pipes. He is now unfortunately gone - a wonderful woodturner named Trevor Cole. I would love to learn anything more about turning and I think Richard Raffan is one of the masters. I'll suggest our local library gets a copy as well.
Count me in for the draw - I've been turning for about 2 years now, and have made a few pens, but would love to extend my skills with Richard Raffan's book :-)
I'd like a shot at this contest.
I've been turning spindles for years, but recently have started turning bowls and hollow vessels. Would love to add Richards book to my library.
This would be a great addition to my library. Thanks for the chance.
Just started turning again after many years. Would love read this book.
This is a wonderful book written by the by the best of the best woodturners!
Nothing like a good book. Cant wait to go through this one!
This guy can turn. I recently watched one of his videos. It was like watching a race. Fast----VERY FAST turner.
I'm just finally starting to get into woodworking after many years of watching so many different woodworkers do interesting thing in different media and aspiring to join in the fun. Turning is just one more aspect of the craft that has an appeal to me.
Thwe book sounds great. Please sign me up!
Just starting to learn to turn. Need a book like this to kick it off.
In my little bit of experience turning, I learned a Shopsmith is NOT a lathe!
Oh.. I would love this book. I have been waiting for it and trying to save some money for a few books and this is one on my list. ;-) Thank you so much for the contest.
It's a great book. I have a buddy getting into turning who would appreciate a copy.
This would be a great addition for our club's library.

Inherited an old lathe but don't know how to turn.

So sign me up before the eighth

Richard Raffan is truely the Dean of woodturning. We can all learn a lot from him.
I was always wondering if I could combine my carvings with some turning works. I appreciate the chance to win for woodworkers. Cheers.
I've already purchased several of his books and videos from Fine Woodworking. They're very good.
I was just given a lathe but it has three projects ahead of it. I hope Richard Rafften's book will help
I have a very old lathe and while I have done turning on it There is a awful lot of things I don't know. This certainly would fill in the blanks.
I'm in for the drawing. I need all the help I can get.
Looks like a book I need.
Hi, I'm a turning wood begginner, then I need that book so much. Thanks in advance
I learned everything I know about turning from Raffan. Nothing like learning from a guy who has to live off his trade. I'm still trying to figure out how he hollows out a goblet in 4 seconds.
I would love this book. Maybe it would kickstart me to spend some more time at my mini lathe. Just never seem to get to do that.
Nothing would be nicer than a novice wood buster like me being able to get some book knowledge from one of the recognized giants in woodturning. I need the help!
Ron
As a wood turner, I would love to have this book!
I am a intermediate wood turner, but good always use Raffn's book to continue learning and to share with members of my woodturning club.
My lathe is waiting for me. I'm just waiting a little help from a friend( book)
Woodturning has always fascinated me - what beauty nature has hidden inside each piece of wood. One of my next tool purchases will be a lathe or if time permits I'll build one.
An extra book? No you don't thats mine. Matt Kinney promised if I listen to the Podcast over and over I would deserve it :)
I'm in, I bought a new/used lathe just before Christmas
Met Richard when he visited San Diego a few years ago. I have enjoyed his books and his stories. The rate at which he can produce a bowl is astounding.
Hope I win another of his books.
I am on the fence about buying a mid size lathe. This book will help me get off to a good start in a new dimension of woodworking.
send the thing down here to tazzie, ill check it out, make some adjustments, include a bit about turning with hard DRY wood and whip it back, might iclude turning 4.5tpi threads for wood srews on the lathe, now there's a challenge
I have turned a bit and enjoy it a lot. This may just be the resource to improve and progress my skills. Maybe I'll get lucky and win it, if not I'll probably need to buy it.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Bill
Don't worry about sending it to Tassie as the west is best, give me the book and I will put it to the test, and remember the dog that stay,s on the porch finds no bones.
All the best Cranky Evo
I turn here and there ,but quite frankly I'm a little apprehensive about the machine. I know you can turn great pieces, but I wish I was a little more educated about it,I've taken a class, maybe a book from a master will give the kick I need for grasping the fear by the horns.
I'm in too
Although I have been turning awhile, reviewing techniques and tips by other turners is always a positive learning experience.
I have a lathe , But need the know how , I could learn from this book .
Raffan has always been an inspiration and continues to be, I still have much to learn from him, this book will go a long way towards that, Thanks for the opportunity!!
I am just getting in the process of turning wood ang have been very interested in what to buy and uses of the tools for turning and sharing.
What turning speeds are required for wood species and diameters.
The book sounds great.

Richard is an excellent teacher and this would be a great addition to my turning library.
I've watched Raffan's DVDs, and they are very informative. I would love to own the book.
About 80% of my woodworking is on the lathe now. Been turning for 14 years, and find it very relaxing! Always looking to learn new techniques!
He's given some really great demonstrations! It would be a treat to sit down and savor his writings in his book.
Like many who are posting here, more & more of my work is on the lathe. I think I like the immediate gratification that most of my turning projects give me. I'm probably being redundant here also, but it's teachers & writers like Richard Raffan that have advanced the craft & artistry of wood turning to where it is today. Without these folks, many of us wouldn't be where we are or even playing on our lathes.I' love to have the book, obviously. Thanks.
This would be an excellent tool to add to my turning library (Not to mention the only book in my turning library).
I'd love a copy, I seem to find myself straying farther into turning and the extra knowledge would be great!
I have a good friend, Larry, who just got his first lathe 2 weeks ago. This book would be a great early BD present for him.
What I know about using a lathe I learned from watching Richard Raffan DVD"S. It would be nice to add the book to my collection of turning information. Thanks for the chance.
It would be fantastic to learn from one of the worlds best turners. Even if i don't win i'll be getting a copy and/or the dvd. I just got a Delta lathe and have yet to get going for lack of tutelage.
I will keep my fingers crossed. I would love to win this book,
Would love to add this DVD to my library.
Keep up the good work helping all of us new woodworkers with much needed information.
Thanks
Thanks FWW for the chance to win a Raffan turning book.
Any book or dvd by Richard Raffan is well worth having.
I am an extreme amateur but I plan to get into turning a lot more when I retire next year. It seems to be one of those fields in which one can continue to learn new things regardless of the amount of past experience.
I'm approaching 50 years of turning wood, but I'd still love a copy. I'd pass it along to my grandson when he's just a little older to carry on the tradition.
Just got my first lathe, so would love to have the book.
Turning is approx 50% of my time in shop. I love to try different techniques and a new book would be very helpful.
My son has juts started to work on the lathe and broke his first bowl already ;) This book likes it is made for him.
I want to get better on the lathe.
Just starting to learn to turn wood and this would be a great book to have!
A great name in the field of turning... Would be a fantastic learning read.
Cheers
Patrick
This book would be great to help improve my basic wood turning skills. Love doing work on the lathe. Thanks to FWW for the chance to win Turning Wood with Richard Raffan.
I am a Middle School Technology Teacher, this text would be a great resource for my Woodworking Club students and the High School Materials Processing and Manufaturing class.
Turning Wood would certainly make me a better turner.
Better turning means a happy wife.
A happy wife means a happy life.
That's one area of woodworking I haven't gotten into yet, but this would be a great resource to get me into it!
I am just getting into turning. This book sounds like a great source of inspiration and knowledge. I would really like to win it.
Just started turning last year and started my 10 year old daughter last week. This would be a great tool to help us work together on presents.
I have been a woodworker for 40+ years. I used a lathe in high school shop class, but haven't touched one since. For years I have bragged about not having the need for a lathe and got great results with a spoke shave, rasps, files and sharp chisels and scrapers. As I'm writing this I am waiting on the arrival of my newest purchase: a new Jet 1220 lathe. It will be interesting to read Raffan's book to learn what I have been missing all these years. I'd also like to write my own book on how to get by without a lathe to compare the two techniques.
