A Journey to Bombé
Veteran woodworker Dan Faia plunges into the project of a lifetimeA bombe chest is a tour de force for a woodworker, requiring a combination of excellent technical skills, eye for detail, and period furniture acumen to pull off. So we were thrilled when longtime contributor Dan Faia allowed FWW along for the ride as he embarked on this once-in-a-lifetime piece. From historical research to choosing the huge slabs of mahogany, milling the lumber, shaping all the curves, cutting all the joinery, and adding signature details, this was a project that Faia says “required the greatest amount of planning of any piece I have ever made.”

Absolutely beautiful furniture and great craftsmanship.
You have a real eye for detail. The color, the shape and the carvings are the highlight. The final product says it all.
Its great to see young woodworkers getting noticed and published. Keep up the great work.
