Mortise and Tenon Joinery by Hendrik Varju
Passion for Wood, 2013.
$94.95 Cdn; 10 hrs, 58 mins
An54drew won this lastest giveaway.
Mortise and Tenon Joinery is the latest DVD from Hendrik Varju and as with all his others (12 in all) it covers a lot of ground. The DVD starts with explanations about various methods for cutting mortise and tenon joints and Varju discusses his favorites. He also reviews the different tools he uses. Next, the DVD covers how to plan a mortise and tenon joint, decide on dimensions and mark it out. Cutting the mortise is discussed in three different chapters, depending on the tool used and another chapter covers cutting the tenon shoulders. After a few more chapters on cutting tenons, Varju devotes a very long chapter on the final fitting of the tenons. He shows you how to fine tune the tenon using a block plane and chisels and then shows why using a shoulder plane is an even better method. Finally, Varju goes through a glue-up of a mortise and tenon joint, in real time, showing you where to put the glue, how much to use, where to place the clamps and so on until the joint is together.
At almost 11 hours, the DVD provides a lot of important information, and as in his other DVDs you’ll learn the techniques in real time. Varju doesn’t cut out important steps so it’s like having “Private Woodworking Instruction in a Box”.
Lucky An54drew is the winner. His comment was chosen at random.

Henriks teaching videos are excellent.
Hendrik's DVD's are simply the best. Very complete and personal to watch.

The fact that the whole of mortise and tenon joinery isn't condensed into a 20 minute video caught my attention, sounds great!
I'd like this.
His material is like a virtual classroom session. I'd love to take part in the giveaway.

I absolutely want and need this video! My Father-In-Law, great guy who he is, gave me all his woodworking tools. These include band saw, table saw, drill press, lathe, Compound sliding miter, Japanese Chisels, maple workbench, stones, etc, etc, et al! Now I am turning 60 in two months so time is running out on me to the next Grandpa Moses of woodworking. If I am the fortunate one to be selected I will send you a diary and pictures every week of what I have accomplished. The results may not be great at first but I promise to get better.
Sincerely,
Jim AKA Seldonman
ya!
Can always learn something new.
Love to learn
I would love to have this dvd. I am recently retired and have struggled with these joints for years. I know how detailed his dvd's are and so I think that with my free time and this dvd I might finally be able to produce some accurate results.
Would be a real learning tool to have this.
Almost all my furniture projects include some M&T joinery, with the mortises typically done with a router and jig. Always looking for more efficient ways to work, so maybe this DVD will be of help.
Hendrik Varju is such a good instructor.
Love to have the dvd always looking to improve m/t joints. Latest project has over 40 of them
Hi:
After the mistakes I just made on some joints, I would say I need this Mortise and Tenon Joinery book now.
Thank You
I would love it, Thanks for the chance .
This disk has a reserved spot in my library.
Yes please.
I like watching woodworking movies. I like to have a copy.Sounds very interesting.
It has my name on it!
11 hours of instruction how to's relating to mortice and tenon joinery by one of the woodworking masters is in prospect a fantastic viewing experience to treasure.
!
Can't wait - sometimes you don't have access to someone who can show you a better way.
I don't think I've cut a mortise and tenon joint since I left school a long long time ago...I most definitely need a revision course!
Having had a new baby girl and taking on full time dad duties I will have plenty of time to watch the DVD. Ha ha the other dads say you won't have a minute to spare.
Cheers from Australia down under
I have bought other similar training guides on this subject over the years. I friend of mine has this particular copy and I am envious to say I would give a "thumb" to own this myself. Nothing I owned previously on this subject can even come close to the material by this author. Please choose me!!!!.
Just started making mortise and tenon joinery. This dvd would be a terrific help to shorten my learning curve. Sure hope I win one. Thanks for the chance!
Count me in!
Wow, 11 hours of video on the ubiquitous mortise and tenon. There is bound to be a great deal of useful information and so much to learn. I need this!
11 hours on the topic of mortise and tenon joints
I have got to see the whole thing to believe it
Anton O
Please throw in a good set of mortising chisels and a gauge too! Here's the address to send it when I win: PSC 480 Box 368, FPO AP 96370-0004. Thanks!
I may finally have a shop put together soon. I've been accumulating and restoring tools and equipment for a number of years. I have an inherited collection of Fine Woodworking that I cherish that has had me inspired for a very long time. Joinery is at the core of fine woodworking skills to be mastered. I can think of no better source of learning, short of having a master craftsman tutor in the flesh, to guide you along.
This would be a great start for me to learn about mortise and tenon joinery!
Very nice!
Hi there,
Eleven hours for a tenon/mortise tour, I hope that my next tenon and mortise batch will be done so quickly that this DVD will be a a winner investment.
Kind regards from France,
Gérard
Any help i can get from it would be an improvement.
Eleven hours! It may be hard to choose between this and another reading of War and Peace...
I'd love to have this set. Any extra knowledge is useful.
This sounds like a must have DVD. I never win, so nobody needs to worry about me, but it would be nice......
This DVD would make a nice addition to my collection of Hendrik's work!
11 hours of instruction on M&T Joinery...thats more instruction than I recieved in a college course. Is there a test at the end? Count me in
Would be very nice to have. I use mortise and tenon a lot and a better understanding would be great.
Sounds like a great DVD. I would love to win it.
Winter is coming and so are all those projects I have been putting off so this would be a great item for me. But like other comments don't worry I never win either.
I have a few projects using mortise and tenons that I have been afraid to start due to my lack of experience in this area. This DVD set would give me the knowledge and confidence to start building these items.
I've seen a few on his other DVDs and I find they are well done. It would be great to have this one. Count me in.
Relatively new to high end woodworking, this would help e expand my skill set.
Here is my way to make tenons and mortises:

Looks like a great DVD. I'd be proud to have it in my meager collection. Now, if you could add all of Ron's greatest moments from Parks and Recreation I'd truly be in Woodworking Heaven.
Been turning for several years and now want to get into small furniture. This will be a great help.
Nice looking DVD
I would would like to add this DVD to my collection.
Just throwing my name in the hat for a slim chance of winning because if I didn't there is no chance at all I would win.
Never tried to mortice or tenon, but what a great way to learn from one of the best.
Love to get one!
This would be great!
Would love to learn and perfect this joinery!
I have several projects that my wife has asked me to do that this would help me complete.
I would love to have this DVD to learn tons more about mortise and tenon joinery.
It would be great to win this DVD. His shop is only a couple of hours from my house - I should sign up for a lesson one day.
Would love to have this for my shop
Hendrick,
Thank you for all the extensive work and research you put into this DVD.
It sounds very thorough and exceptional to what has been done previously. Most people only show what is useful to their method. You seem to have covered the full range of how many tools and methods will work for the same results, so that everyone can learn at their own level. It would be an exciting time of learning and developing necessary skills to use in many ways.
Does it come with initiative to get busy? Then I REALLY need it! :-)
I've been a wood worker all my life but finish has not been my strongest suite. I was taught bush carpentry by my father, functional stuff but hardly cabinet making. He was taught by his father who owned a pearling fleet in Torres Strait (Qld, Australia) was a deft hand at keeping his mother ship, the schooner 'Norna' in good nick (a real ships carpenter did the hard yards). Now, in retirement, it is time I honoured their memory and put the tools they left me to good use by developing some decent woodworking skills and producing some good cabinetry for my children and grandchildren. What greater help could I have than this magnificent volume (is a DVD a 'volume'?) to help me on my way.
Looking over his video clips this would be an extremely useful video series to own.
Creating "professional" amateurs.
this would be great count me in!
I could use a few tips
I am struggling with the layout and M/T techniques in general, would look forward to improving and later commenting on why.
That would be a great addition.
Just when you think that you can produce a good mortise and tenon joint, a DVD such as this will show you many more ways to a better joint.
Took a look at Hendrik's web site. The man is a true craftsman and someone to learn from. Thanks
11 hours long? Sounds like a heck of a deal for the money! Bring it on!
Looks great, sign me up
Great video, ready for it
Thank you
This would be a great addition to my woodworking library.
I am the amateurs wannabe,,, I need this dvd,,, really. I have so much difficulty in understanding the techniques and this DVD looks like just the answer I need. Thanks!
I would love to perfect this go to joint. I find I use M & T joinery in 90% of my cabinets. This DVD would be an excellent resource.
This looks like an awesome DVD series. Thanks for offering this.
If the author can successfully take the hand of the viewer and carefully lead him/her to the fruition of the mortise and tenon joint, that will be awesome! This gift is outstanding.
Brad
Who is the lucky gei to get this dvd?
This would certainly help me make better joints. Thanks for the opportunity.
Being an aspiring woodworker, I could really use a tool like this. It sounds very thourough.
When Tage Frid passed away, I thought I'd lost my last opportunity to continue improving my woodworking technique. With this set of DVDs I may have that opportunity once again.
It looks like a very good infomational set of DVD"S, by someone who really knows what they are doing!
As usual, FW surpass my expectations.
Thanks
Mortise & tenon in real time sounds better than the usual 30 minutes or less.
Has been many years since I completed a mortise and tenon joinery. This video would be great to own to hone up on my skills.
This set looks like it would be a great edition to anyones woodworking library.
Great! Sign me up.
Just finished a 3 day woodworking class. Made some mortises and tenons and some dovetails. I'd love to have this DVD to refresh my memory and develop my skills... which do need development. Sign me up!
This would be a great addition to my woodworking library.
I'd like a chance at winning this important set. Thanks!

Just getting started in early retirement and this would be a great way to bring back some skills.
No substitute for first-class instruction...!

Sure looks like a great addition to a home library.
No substitute for first-class instruction...!

Having been recently retired and watching where my money goes, this would be a fantastic video to have and learn from.
I have taken in almost 40 of Hendrik's Saturday morning seminars and have purchased his Jointer and "Planer Secrets" DVD. His work is amazing and his teaching is very detailed.
As a novice all knowledge is good. I would love to have this DVD!
Wow! What a great tool. I am a learner and really need constant instruction. Thanks for the opportunity to win this great set.
Sounds like a very exceptional Mortise and tenon DVD video. Thanks for entering me.
I'd like to win this DVD drawing. I'm learning along with my husband, and the instruction would really help.
Always good to get back to basics and understand good joinery.
I would love to have these insights into this style of joinery. It just might help me skip a couple of steps in try it and see if it works process.
I am a fairly new woodworker and have never used M&T although I have the tools. Always defaulted to plate joints. Would love to "graduate"!
Preparing to build my dream workbench soon and would like to use mortise an tenon joinery. This DVD would help a lot!
Started reading the online info when I was 73. Now pushing 77 and I still consider myself a 'noobie'. Sure would be nice to win this...might just improve my techniques a bit.
Looking forward to learning more from this DVD
I see some people comment several times to improve their odds? If so shame on them...
Buying the CD would be out of reach so I hope I coulda win one.....

This DVD would certainly help me improve on my current efforts at joinery.
Sounds like a very nice collection!
Thanks for entering me.
Oops did it myself
My Dad was an apprentice carpenter in the old British tradition, but then he became an airforce man and I never get to learn as much as I should have. So I still need to learn. The cd would be great.
I appreciate you entering but, if i win it or not I still have FineWoodworking to research different articles, methods, etc. In memory of my son Andy Hovis!
i'm game
Please enter me in the dvd giveaway
sure why not? sign me up
I would love to have this. Being entirely self taught, I often have a lazy instructor and an inattentive student.
Always interested in learning more.
I need this one, count me in :)
As a beginner - this would be very helpful - I will take any help I can get!
I'll give it a shot. Thanks.
If there is a woodworking skill I need to improve, it's joinery.
Worth a try!!
Why knot...
I enjoy doing mortise and tenon joints, but I'm no pro, so I am always looking for ways to improve my skills. This looks like a great resource!
Free is good. I might even learn something as a bonus. Thanks for the chance to win.
I don't just want this DVD - I'm one of those who NEEDS it. LOL. Thanks FWW
Sounds good to me.
i know basic joinery, and can do basic mortise-and-tenon joints the old-fashioned, chiselling way, except that ido them most laboriously, oftentimes just guessing how to do small things like cleaning up the mortise shoulders.
i would like to go the 'expert' way, and this DVD will certainly help me get up to speed quickly.
thanks.
Thank you for this offer.
I am very interested in "joining". Please include my entry.
i knew something about mortise-and-tenon joints, but do it laboriously, often just guessing what to do with small things like cleaning the tenon shoulders.
i would like to go the 'expert' way,and this DVD will put me up to speed much more quickly than otherwise.
thanks.
The dvd sounds like a must have for anyone who is not a long-term professional. I look forward to seeing it.
I need this DVD. Thank you. Alex
I am retired and a bit of of a wood butcher ,but I really enjoy wood working.I really enjoy the information provided by Fine Woodworking and this is no exception.I think this information I need to take me to the next level.
Thanks for the opportunity. Sounds like a good DVD to help us weekend warriors.
I would very much appreciate a copy as I find Mr. Varju a
very interesting & talented woodworker.
Canadian? Whoa, this looks good. They really know their trees up there . I would sure love to get this set. There must be a massive amount of info on it, almost 11 hours! If it comes my way I will be sure to do a review of it, just as I would hope any of the rest of us would do. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
What a great idea. FWW should have a free drawing more often! Hope I'm the random one.
I have Varju's video course on surface preparation. It is extremely thorough and I am sure he has given equally detailed coverage to the subject of M & T joinery. Well, 10 plus hours of edited video is a lot more than any other video available. So, really looking forward to seeing this course.
Thanks for the opportunity to receive this dvd!
That many hours of footage to describe mortise and tenon joint making? I'm clearly in the dark about what it takes. Illuminate me, Please!
Always up for a freebie, especially one that looks useful.
Thank you
This is a hugh instructional video.
Odds are bad, but hey! It's free to enter and sounds like a great prize. Thanks for the opportunity!
Great idea to give away a book! This is the first time I have posted a comment. Just needed a good incentive like this one.
Thanks for the opportunity. I am new to woodworking at age 82 and a DVD like this one will help me learn fast. Mahalo
ready for a step up in mortis knowledge
I always seem to be at random so maybe I'll win this. Seriously though, it looks like a great deal of good information on one of the most important joints in woodworking. Thanks.
I'm in. Winning this would be perfect. I have my first mortise-tenon project in the shop now.
I have worked 50-60 hour weeks through my career. I did woodwork occasionally, but had to choose simple techniques in the interest of time. I just retired and now have time to learn cabinetmakers methods. Varun would be a good place to start.
I'm in. Looks like a great treatise on M&T joinery.
so many videos are too short. they're great as far as they go, but .....
so sign me up please!
I recently retired and now I have the time (but not the money) to devote to woodworking. I would love to learn more about mortise and tenon joinery. The last thing I won was a Joe Walsh album back in 1974 so I think I am due for a little luck.
Today is my birthday. This would make a nice gift.
I need and want all the education I can get.
Count me in. I can use all the instruction I can get.
As a retired shop teacher we learned to make tenons on the table saw and mortises using a mortising attachment on a Delta drill press . The school system never could afford a dedicated mortising machine. At 11 hours long this DVD must be packed full of alternative mortising methods. I'm not too old of a "dawg" to learn new tricks.
Put me in the hat. Hey DanRM, the last thing I ever won was an Olivia Newton-John album in about 1973 or 1974, so I guess we are both due for another win. :-)
Wow! I had no idea these extensive DVDs were out there.
Judging from the preview clips they are very well done and offer a ton of great tips.
Looks like a great set! Count me in.
This DVD sounds great. Add me to the list.
Looks like a great DVD! I will have to check out the other ones also. I need all the coaching/training I can get!
Looks very interesting, please put my name on the list
Would love to add this to my collection.
would love to have the dvd in my colection, as we can never learn to much about joinery. All the best from Mandurah Western Australia
Eleven hours of chopping goodness! I'd better break out the waterstones, tune up some chisels, sit back and relax.
docbane
My wife is not very good at house work & has plenty advice
on how I should make a repair. Perhaps she could earn a living
as a cabinet maker .
I could really use this.
Sounds like a great instructional video. Count me in.
Well prepared DVDs provide "one-on-one" instruction for those of us living in areas where it is not always possible to get together with others to learn the basic and finer points of a particular technique.
I suppose that there is never an end to this technology.
I have Hendrik's "Jointer and Planer" DVD. Taught me a lot.
I could sure use some help on this topic. Also, I am curious as to what could possibly be said about M & T joints that takes all those disks!
Wood Dog
Sounds like great information. I could use some polishing of my technique.
I'd love to own this DVD set. Please enter me in the draw. Thanks.
I'm game, send me a copy.
This DVD set would no doubt be a valuable addition to anyone's woodworking resources, mine included.
I would love to add this DVD to my collection.
I always look forward to learning more.
I would love to win this DVD!!
Sounds good to me.

Pick me, I'm layed up in bed will a back problem and need something to do, I'm going nuts just sitting here and need something for my brain before it goes to mush.
I have got a lot to learn about mortise and tenon joints!
Mortise and tenon joinery is an area within which I have much to learn. I could stand to benefit from access o this DVD set.
Mortise and tendons are strong joints and I can always learn more
I'm sure this DVD would be a valuable addition to my woodworking library.
I presently do not have a Mortising jig. do most with router and cannot say they turn out all the time as expected. hoping this DVD would help me and make it a little easier to do mortise and tenon joints. As I am rather a novice and have only been doing woodworking for 1 1/2 yrs since I retired.
Looks like a good bit of information to make you a mortise & tenon "expert".
A great addition to any woodworkers video library.
Knowledge is power...thus, I would love to have this dvd.
Everyone has their own way of learning. I've tried reading dozens of articles on making mortise and tenons but something is always lost in the execution, when actually making the joint! I have never completed a project with a good looking Mortise and Tenon joint. Hopefully watching 11 hours of an experts guidance would help me do it right! Maybe I am a visual learner.
looks amazing
Great satisfaction when I build my first mortise and tenon project a year ago. Would love to take a look at this DVD for some serious tips on improving my skills.
What are the odds of a Canadian winning a free DVD?
Sure could use this one!
I am a lifelong woodworker, twice retired. I always return to the joy of working wood! I have done a little bit of everything; timber framing, cabinetry, furniture, Windsor and Welsh stick back chairs. The last 20 years I have been building strip canoes and kayaks. Wish you guys did more in that area. Recently I have gotten into Skin on Frame , Eskimo style kayaks. Lots of interesting lashing and mortices there. So this "old dog" is ready to learn some new tricks!
Regards, Chuck
I would love to have this DVD so I can take my work to a higher plain.
What a great resource as I learn this skill!
Could add this one to my other my other Hendrik Varju DVD's.
Hendrik rocks! I would LOVE this DVD!!
As a woodworker just starting to make some furniture after many, many years absence this DVD would add greatly to my ability to tone up my skill set.
Looking forward to more great tips from Fine Woodworking. Keep up your great work!
This would be an awesome bday present!
Would love to win this DVD. Bet I wouldn't watch it just once.
Enter me into the DVD draw. Cheers!
i really need this dvd so Please pick me, thank you
Hey, I could certainly use some good advice concerning M&T joinery! This DVD would be a welcome addition to my library.
This sounds great.. count me in.
This sounds great.. count me in
I used to do them entirely by hand and they were so so. Then I added a Mortimer and there worse. I'm doing something wrong on the fine tuning and I need help. This DVD should fix my problem. Hope you pull my name out of the hat.
This looks good. I will look forward to seeing the DVDs.
Hey, Pull my name from that and I will be much smarter!
I will make something using the knowledge I gain from the DVD's.
Ok, send it. I'll be the lucky winner and you'll be the lucky reader of my comments. G.
Ive been making a lot of M& T joints by hand but I would like to learn other methods.
Any help is appreciated. Videos allow me to visually follow the directions
Me!, Me!, Me! Pick me!, Pick me!, Pick me!!!!
I've used mortise and tenon joints for forty years in all mannner of constructions, and it often seems so hit and miss, so much work and so many different opinions from so many sources for over-coming difficulties. Would love to study one tried and true comprehensive method from one person. Keep my fingers crossed for this prize, thanks
11 hours on Mortise and tenons sounds like a classroom in a DVD box/ I would be proud to win it.
I like the versatility, attractiveness and strength of a mortise and tenon joint. Love to have this DVD set to improve my skills.
There must have been an enormous amount of time and effort in making a 10 volume DVD set. It will be appreciated!
In-depth instruction from a master is a big plus for many of us not yet a professional. I would be overjoyed and proud to add this DVD to my growing library. "Thank You", Fine Woodworking, for the opportunity. joe
I'm fairly new to woodworking. Man, would I like to win this DVD!
Woodworking DVD? Another one to bore my family! Woohoo!
I would love to watch and win the mortise and tendon DVD. Pick me please.
Wow! That's a long list of names. I could use all the help I can get.
I'm fairly new to wood working, pretty much self taught, by trial and a lot of error. I love it, but really need instruction and experience!! The dvds would be a great birthday present!
Please pick me!!!
Looks like the perfect video to learn the Mighty Mortise and Tenon joint.
Mr. Random, Please pick me!!
watching woodworking DVD's is my relief from lame tv shows! Please pick me.
I would love to win this DVD. Put my name in the hat, please.
I haven't won anything yet but this DVD set would be great to win so throw my name in the pot. Thanks.
would love to have the dvd to generally epand my knowledge on M & T joinery
Having seen the 'trailers' on the author's website, his DVDs are on my wishlist. If his one-on-one courses are are anything like the detail in the videos, you would need a third hand working with him - two for the mallet and chisel and one for him to hold! He makes no assumptions in his instructions but explains in a respectful non-condescending manner! FWW, I'd love to have the whole set, so how about doing me a really big favour by starting me off with this one?
This is more than a DVD, it is a tool we all need to do the fine wood craftsman ship we all raspier to do.
Looks great. Please enter me into the draw. Thanks.
Always interested in improving my woodworking knowledge. Include me in the drawing. Thanks
Count me in. I'm always looking for ways to better my joints.
Never cut one before but I'm ready!
I'm game. If I don't win, maybe I'll buy one. dan
Would love to have this. I'm always looking for ways to broaden my knowledge and this would certainly fill the bill.
OH !!!! I need that.
Having just started building a maple writing desk, this video would certainly help in making the mortise and tenon joints I need to make, as I can't use biscuits!
I used mortise and tennon joinery in the construction of a ten foot long pine dining room table, the top was inch and a half thick and the aprons were deep enough for drawers to hold napkins etc.
Looks good, would love to have the dvd
A real-time lesson on this subject would be very useful to me.
Don
I have this guy's DVD about tablesaws. His instructions are very clear. What I like is that he's thought about the various challenges of using a tool or accomplishing a task, and he's figured out a good way to handle them. You have to be prepared to spend time watching the detailed discussion, but the DVD is a great reference. I'd love to have this DVD.
This is an area that I am just now learning how to do. I have been hesitant to start without a better knowledge of joint design. Look forward to the viewing the DVD.
I would like to put my hat in the ring to win this dvd in order to improve my skills at joinery.
I hope whoever wins this dvd, will appreciate and use it. The art or skill of woodworking seems to be dying out, and it is far too beautiful a craft to lose in this world.
I wonder if this DVD also ships to Europe.
Sounds like the missing area of my tool set. Sign me up. Thanks.
I just finished watching Breaking Bad.... need something else to watch.
This looks like a very interesting DVD, any time a person can see someone else do an operation he can learn from it.
I'm in a rut and this DVD would shurley help me out.
Always a good idea... need all the help I can get!
I've learned mortise and tendon joinery mostly by trial and error. It would be great to have 11 hours of professional instruction.
would be a nice addition to my library and skill set.
Please enter my name! I'm always hesitant to do m&t joins - seems time-consuming and complicated.
Cheers!
I've always had to do my M and T joints by hand. They look like they ought to be simple but never seem to work out that well. I'd love to have this DVD.
I learned what I know from the Frank Klausz DVD.
It's time to give a gift to a reader from Canada...! Thank you FWW!
I have done some M&T but no doubt there is more to learn in this 10 hour DVD. Pick Me!!
Howdy,
I am just getting started building a few Craftsman style pieces. Mortise and tenon work is essential, so this set my be just the trick to get me started.
Mike C
Interesting topic. I didn't realize so much could be expounded upon as far as Mortise and tenon Joints.
Thanks
Chuck
My favorite joints are mortise and tenon.
Thanks for the chance at this DVD,
Well I have always needed to know just how to do M&T. Just how this can be done. A wood project can be made in this way. My wood making skill is building and remolding houses.
I've always relied on FWW magazine for the best woodworking advice since issue #1, but have never tried any of the DVD series. If they're of the same quality as the magazine they should be AWESOME!
I am self-taught work entirely with hand tools and would be interested to see what refinements I could learn from an expert. In particular the final fitting and glue up sound interesting, but if he chops mortises and handsaw cuts tenons, it would be great.
I can always use more instruction like this excellent DVD even though I have used mortise and tenon in several projects...always room for improvement.
M&T certainly beats dowels, which is what I started out with when I first got into working wood.
$95 Canadian! hot dawg
Looks good, please add my name for the drawing.
Love your magazine and website. Please add me to the drawing.
Heard an interview with this gentleman recently. Sounds like he's a very thorough teacher. Would love to see for myself!
need all the professional help i can get. this video would be wonderful to learn from.
I would love to watch this!!!
I have heard this author speak and would LOVE to add any of his dvds to my collection.
I could get attached to that DVD.
I look forward to viewing the DVD :-)
Ive never won anything but you never know
You are never too old to learn more ...
I would absolutely love to add this DVD to my collection.
I am a lifelong woodworker, three times retired (20+ yrs. USAF, & approx. 35yrs. in Electronics & Medical manufacturing), & still only 74 yrs. young. I've been out of commission for a few years for health issues, but am doing much better recently & looking forward to getting back into my love of working with wood. The possibility of getting some "hands-on" training information about Mortise and Tenon Joinery with a DVD would be a very nice addition to my small library about woodworking. I've really enjoyed the FWW magazine for several years & hope to for several more, so keep up the great work with your really great magazine & products. Best Regards, SVEEDE
I'd be thrilled to receive this DVD down here "down under"!
Thanks for the opportunity!
This would be very nice Birthday present for a friend of mine.
would love to add this to my woodworking library!
With my skills, anything would help but this looks interesting and could be particularly helpful.
This is a must have resource if you do outdoor furniture and post and bean construction, If I don't win it I'll buy it!
I would love to learn from this DVD set!
I bought a brand new 1/4" sash mortice chisel, you have a brand new DVD!
I hope you can afford the postage to Scotland.
I have taken a number of Hendrik's courses and he is VERY detailed. Nothing is left to figure out. Would really enjoy winning this video.
Just starting out with fine joinery and absolutely love the help and assistance from Fine Wood Working. My library would be more awesome with a copy of Mortise and Joinery.
Thanks very much for this opportunity, Fred Healey
My previous comment should have said Mortise and Tenon Joinery -- sorry about that. Thanks again, Fred Healey
would be great to learn
Just in time. I just purchased two Lie-Nielsen mortise chisels to help make a Hayrake Table. This DVD would, no doubt, be very useful!
I have a set of mortise chisels that I would like to learn to use. I'm sure the DVD would be a great help.
Never stop learning! Would make a nice addition to the DVD library.
Mr Varju is awesome! looking forward to seeing this video by him.
Cheers,
Loved his other DVD's. Am looking forward to seeing (& learning from) this DVD.
Just about everything I build uses mortise and tenon joinery. Would love to take my skill with these joints to a higher level.
Fairly new to woodworking, and would love to add this DVD to my growing collection!
The Holy Grail of wood joinery. I haven't found it yet. Perhaps this will help on my journey!
I would love to add this to my library!
Hendrik Varju is by far the best teacher in woodworking. I have taken a course at college and just a couple of days with Hendrik provided more information than an entire semester in a post secondary course.
He is by far the most thorough teacher I have ever had.
Sounds like a really genuine aid for anyone aspiring to build very crisp and strong mortise and tenon joints. I'd really love to have this in my DVD library
It would be great to learn the proper techniques for mortise and tenon joinery.
mortise and tenon joints are my goto choice for furniture construction. I have lost respect for some of the woodwork shows that cater to their sponsors by seeing how many pocket screws they can get in a project.

It is really nice to see the veiw of master on joinery techniques and found the answers of many questions everybody face with in woodworking specially on jointing parts .
I'd love to learn more about mortise and tenon joints.....
As a begginer I sure would love 11 hours of instruction like this!!
I would love to win the Mortise and Tenon Joinery DVD to be able to improve my skills and share this knowledge with others.
these are great dvds ,to show to students ,they are put together very well ,descrbing all to a fine detail thanks hendrik
The M&T joint is one of the strongest for joining furniture. I certainly would be interested in learning more about ths.
I'm a relative newbie and think this would be a great way to step into joinery!
Always had trouble with this joint. Would be nice to win.
Eleven hours of DVD instruction must be similar to attending a Mortise and tenon cutting seminar. But instead of lecture notes, you will have the DVDs to reply whenever needed! Would also be interested in other instructional DVDs offered by Mr. Varju.
Just what the doctor ordered. I am assembling a workshop and beginning to learn the basics. This DVD will go a long way towards assisting me in becoming a great woodworker.
sawing logs to lumber with portable band mill I have many pieces of lumber to make furniture etc. CD would be a great help
I'm just setting up a shop of my own, and looking to do some fancier joinery. This would be a great tool for me.
What an awesome dvd. it would be great to learn more on this joinery.
I'm getting ready to retire after the first of the new year and spending most of my time in my shop. They say you can't teach and old dog new tricks, but I find that in woodworking you can learn something new every day. It would be great to see if what I'm doing now is the wrong way( many say there is no right or wrong way) and what I can learn to make me a better woodworker. I think the DVD would be a great help.
What a great opportunity from FWW. I'm currently relocating and don't have a shop, but I have plenty of time and a DVD player at my temporary residence.
I'm not Morrisania, & your software insists I am. no matter how many times I log in. I stii want to win the dvd though.
Richard Stevens-subscriber.
.
What a great opportunity to learn how to better do mortise and tenon jointery! I would love to win a copy of this DVD.
Would love to have a copy on my shelf. What a great reference tool.
This would be a great addition any level of existing knowledge.
This would be a great addition any level of existing knowledge.
Refined instruction in one of my favorite joints can only help improve my practice! Oh boy, do I need improvement.... Pick ME, pick ME!!!!
As a beginner in real mortising the DVD would be a real asset. Thanks for the opportunity.

This would be a great start to my collection
I am putting the final touches on my workshop. I hope to be busy all winter using it. It would be nice to have this set, so I can learn something correctly right from the start. I have high hopes but I am sure there will be a lot of mistakes.
This sounds like a great opportunity to see another approach to joinery. It's one of the aspects of woodworking that I find very interesting, both from an artistic view and a mechanical view.
Thanks, Dave
I've been woodworking for about 15 years. I have finally been able to convert our carport into a garage (my wife thinks it's a garage, all of us know better).
In all that time I have read, looked at, and searched online for "how to's, how comes, and wow this is great" tips. I have found that Fine Woodworking is an honest-to-goodness "go-to", second to none, resource. I'm just glad I stumbled onto your site and have bought your books.
If “Mortise and Tenon Joinery” is anything like the other fine ideas, tips and products from Fine Woodworking (which it must be, 'cause it's on your site) whoever wins the DVD will be an extremely fortunate person and I envy them.
I know if I am the lucky one, it will be used, and used and used; and I will be sharing how much I have been helped by Fine Woodworking even more than I have, since I discovered you.
Good luck to all (but I hope I do win).
Steve O
I definitely need more info on this joint, so would be nice to add this to the library.
