Cutting-Edge Plunge Base for Rotary Tools

I’ve always enjoyed working with inlays but have struggled with finding a precise way to remove the background material. I like using a Dremel, but its base lacks an accurate plunge mechanism and doesn’t give a great view of the work. A unique solution is the Micro Plunge Base, which packs all the features of a high-quality plunge router into a smaller package.

Along with an included LED light, the opening in the 4-in.-dia. base provides great sightlines, and the plunge mechanism is smooth and accurate with the ability to set stops in three different positions. The base also is compatible with Porter-Cable guide bushings. The base lets you rout close to your scribe lines and is useful for both inlay and hinge mortises.

The base fits any Dremel, as well as the Proxon rotary tool. Though there are less-expensive accessory plunge bases out there, none has all the features of the Micro Plunge Base in one package.
