Every other year-without fail-the annual Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS) show in Las Vegas plays host to the Fresh Wood student woodworking competition. AWFS serves as the sponsor for the biennial competition for high school and post-secondary students with a career trajectory in the woodworking industry. From high school woodworkers across the nation, to graduate students already well-versed in the craft, all of them gather together to show their best work during one of the nation’s largest woodworking trade shows.
I’ve been sitting on a repository of photos of this year’s entries and figured it was high time I dusted them off and sent them out into the ether. Sometimes, you just need a bit of inspiration to get yourself into the shop. Hopefully, these entries will serve just that purpose. Enjoy!

If that is the standard of young people, woodworking is in great shape
