2014 will be the year of the blanket chest, for me. 10 to be made, hopefully each one somewhat unique to the individual family member. I could really use the input!
I should really build a blanket chest. This would be helpful to decide on a style!
Another hat in the ring...
I really should build a blanket chest eventually, and this would really help.
My daughter in-law was supposed to inherit a blanket chest. Sadly it didn't happen. So I started thinking about building one for her in the style of the missed desire. More ideas are almost always better just short of the point of confusion. Blanket chests must be the new let's build it thing. I sure have seen quite a few different options in the magazines as of late.
Thanks for the chance to win this book. I have always wanted to build a chest and this would make a great reference.
My wife wants me to build a blanket chest.
Once I am finished the Shaker style end table this would be a great opportunity to add a blanket chest in the bedroom. Thanks for the chance at winning this book.

We have just down-sized after the adult kids moved out but I still have the wood from a Sydney Blue Gum that grew in our backyard. I'd love to make a blanket chest for my daughter and hopefully this book might give me the perfect design to use, if I'm lucky enough to win.
Would be the perfect book for a great project.
Looks like great Christmas gift ideas. I'll let you know how they come out.
I don't really have plans to build a blanket chest but I'd love to modify one to make a toy chest for my son's 1st birthday.
I never won anything in my life but, still trying.
Sounds like a very interesting book!
Looks like a great book.

Hello, I would love to win this book. Taunton Press print some of the best books I own and I suspect this one will be just as good. Always packed with useful and handy hints with great images.

I'd love to have a blanket chest at the foot of our bed. I hope I win!
Ooh, yes please!
I had an opportunity to see this book at a show and thought it was very well written and illustrated. I've been on a quest to build blanket chests for a few years with several in the "parts cut" category while I scratched my head on the different joinery options. Time gets away and other projects come to the forefront, so my "parts" are still ready to get them to the final stage.
As I mentioned above this is a very good book. Whether you win or not, check it out for yourself, as I plan to do the same and get me over the hump from thinking to doing!
I would sure love read this one maybe while wrapped in a blanket laying on my chest.
I already have the book and it is a great pictoral review of blanket chest styles, from simple elegance to astoundingly complex carved an inlayed masterpieces. There is a preponderance of more contemporary designs (which really drew me to the book), but there are more traditional and period designs as well. Each design includes a plan sketch, technique pointers, and explanation of special methods involved. Although I bought the book 2 years ago, I have just selected one of Peter Turner's designs to build ("Wood that Flows") and ordered the full size plan. Mr. Turner used hickory and ash in his rendition. I'm thinking black walnut and ash or oak.
This would be a great addition to my library. Thanks for the opportunity.
There are definitely some nice looking chests in this book.
A series blanket chests started my weekend pursuit of woodworking 20 years ago. This would be an excellent book to make another round of them.

A blanket chest is one of the most rewarding projects for any woodworker who has a few projects under his or her belt. Even though there are many different construction techniques and the design possibilities are nearly endless, a well-built blanket chest is something that should remain in the family for generations. Perfect timing! I have just started designing three new blanket chests, one for each of my three children. I was planning to use the same design but with different wood species. Now, with the help and insight of this book, I could provide a unique design for each. I am sure my children will be happy with my typical design, but how special it will be for each to receive their own personal design inspired by the work of Scott Gibson and Peter Turner.
Thank You
A subject of great interest to me since my great grandaughter

Vermont pine blanket chest - that's my next goal
I have just become a member here on the site, and browsing the page is like walking in the candy-shop of my dreams. I am a student of fine woodworking in Sweden and our first Project was designing and building a tool chest, but I now want to make a bigger one, and this book look like a true source of inspiration. Whoever gets it is a lucky person.
