just thinking outside the box!
i would love this book -
good luck to all!
Looks like a winner!
I love making wooden boxes for all kind of uses and occasions. I look forward to adding the new book to my collection and improving my box making (and enjoying) skills.
I love making boxes for a lot of reasons besides their usefulness and common appeal. In between larger projects, boxes help me keep my skills sharp and often make me think about how things go together, both from the design point of view and from the mechanical point of view. That process has an effect on how I approach my next piece of furniture. Besides, everybody likes boxes; they're fun.
Looks like a dandy project book.
I love looking at all types of boxes. It is fascinating to see some of the creativity that goes into them. One of the things that makes a box inviting is that it almost tells you to pick me up, open my lid, check out my drawers. A real hands on type of furniture. Doug's new book is something I would enjoy reading and using.
I have made several boxes but nothing that compares to Doug Stowe. Would love to have this book.
Can't win it without a ticket
I'm looking forward to winning the book!
Doug's "Taunton's Complete Illustrated Guide to Box Making" is my go to guide for box making. Clear and concise but unfortunately it is getting dog eared. I would enjoy to learn additional ideas and techniques from Doug and Strother.

Good day all. I've read this article on making boxes and would to add this book to my shop. Please add my name to your contest. Cheers!
Looks like a great book to help build my woodworking skills.
I enjoy making boxes, with the combination of styles, shapes, joinery techniques, and wood species the possibilities are limitless. Boxes are normally very simple projects that do not take forever to complete, perfect for beginners. They can also be intricate and involved perfect for advanced woodworkers. Both types give instant gratification to the maker, therefore boxes are the perfect projects for anyone interested in honing their skills in woodworking!
I am working on a wood box to donate to the State of Texas that will contain a walnut gavel and strike plate (already turned). I would appreciate any help if making a nice wood box to present this gavel to the chairperson of the committee of which I am a member.

I HAVE WELL OVER 100 WOODWORKING BOOKS THAT I HAVE COLLECTED AND USE AS REFERENCE BOOKS OVER THE LAST 40 PLUS YEARS. ANY TIME I DO A PROJECT/ I LOOKUP WHAT INFO I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION AS A REFERENCE. MOST OF THE TIME IT REFRESHES ME ABOUT SOME " JEWEL OF INFO" TO IMPROVE MY PROJECTES. I LOVE GETTING NEW UPDATED BOOK ON PROJECTS, CUZ IT TAKES IN TO ACCOUNT MODERN DAY TOOLS AND JIGS ETC. IT WOULD BE A HONOR AND A PRIVILEGE TO INCLUDE THIS BOOK.
I have a couple old boxes that my Dad made when he was stationed in the phillipines during WWII. They are made from Phillipine Mahogany and have lasted a lot of years. My Dad used the boxes to store his old construction books from the 1940's, which I still have. It would be great to see how the small boxes of today compare.
If this book is anything like your basic box making book it should kick up my level of tablesaw work by another ten fold! Pap
I just started to "try" to make boxes and could sure use some tips!

The first thing I made in my retirement workshop was a triangular box. I was thrilled when the lid fit in all three positions. With a wife, a sister, two daughters, three granddaughters, and four great-grandaughters, I could use this book for gifts. And the five boys down the line need toolboxes.
