Last time I showed a new project for our woodworking class – A Writing Arm Chair. This week I’m showing a second new project for class – A Greene & Greene Bedside Table. It shows many of the standard features of Greene & Greene, including the ebony plugs and trim.
Although appearing simple and small, there are many difficult and challenging construction features. Some that I like, but others I feel are inferior to more classic joinery. Mainly, I don’t like many of the drawer design features. I explain this further in the following video.
The housed joint with mortise on the legs for stretchers.
Stretcher and leg joints.
Here is the Side details.
I don’t like the way these drawer runners work…..
The Breadboard that cannot be locked cross-grain to the Top. Screws in slots allow movement of the Top.
I would rather do drawers with dovetails…..
The inevitable ebony plugs to cover screws and pegs…..
