By Chris A. Minick
The author tested 15 wipe-on finishes, including a water-based finish and both tung-oil and linseed-oil-based finishes. Pure boiled linseed oil and Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane, a brushing finish, were added for comparison. All the finishes were tested on pieces of red-oak plywood cut from the same sheet. Waterlox Original Sealer/Finish dried in three hours to a dark, low-gloss finish with good water resistance.

I see this blog was posted several years ago, so I hope someone will see my comment. I am in desperate need of advice. From the manufacturer’s claim, I thought Waterlox was the answer to all my needs for my kitchen countertops......wrong, wrong, wrong. But, I did not realize this falsehood until I invested weeks of labor striving for that “perfect finish”. After sanding my last coat (5), and rubbing it down with lambs wool, I’m left with a streaking cloudy mess. And the finish is so soft, everyday use as a countertop is a joke. Please help!!!!
