STL 75: Return of the Tool Bomb
This week on Shop Talk Live, the gang recounts some of their worst tool purchases ever, in a brand-new edition of our Tool Bombs segment. Then it’s off to the races as we answer your questions on tablesaws, router tables, handplanes, and more.
Every two weeks, a team of Fine Woodworking staffers answer questions from readers on Shop Talk Live, Fine Woodworking’s biweekly podcast. Send your woodworking questions to [email protected] for consideration in the regular broadcast!

1) the inexpensive combo square blades from the hardware store often fit Starret heads. May not be etched markings but if you want an 18" or 24" blade for marking long lines, way cheaper!
2) thin rope + some corner pads + toggle (think tourniquet) doe a very good job. Quick, simple and inexpensive.
Haha I sometimes think that our storage units are full of "tool bombs" too. I swear half of the units here have some form of dud tool box somewhere!
