A copy of this book would allow me to die a happy woodworker/furniture builder! And I could hand it down to my son (not that I'm about to kick anytime soon...I still have to build my bathroom cabinets! If I die before that, my wife will kill me.)

I'd love the chance to win this book. Thanks
I have a hand carved partner's desk that my aunt passed down to me because we both have a passion for antique furniture. The desk has been in my family for 51 years. My aunt purchased the desk from a family friend in 1964. The family friend told my aunt the desk came from England and probably was made in the early to mid 1800's. The desk has a build up of grime over all these years and I suspect the true color no longer exist. I would like to clean it up and restore it to the original finish but am sort of afraid touch it for fear of doing damage. Having this book will help me to trace the history of the desk and give me the instruction and confidence to restore the finish on my desk.
In, please.
This would be helpful.
Count me in!
Would be nice to win.

Would be nice to have.
I recently inherited two fine old wood furniture pieces from my mother: a captain's desk and a cherry drop leaf table (the leaves were one 24-inch piece each!). While in pretty good condition, both need some TLC to bring them back to life. I have been looking for a great reference book and this looks exactly like what I need.
Would be an interesting new direction for my WW library.
Sounds like this book could be very useful. Love to win.

Wondering if this book has much in the way of refinishing. I've just received 5 additional dining room chairs that match the design of my existing chairs -- same manufacturer -- but the finish and upholstery are in bad shape, and don't match. If I win this book perhaps it will have advice on how to remove old finish and re-upholster these chairs.

I think it's great that a book like this is out there. I worked restoring furniture when I started out. The experience taught me where and what joints to use in furniture construction. This book sounds like a book that every woodworker should have in their library.
This could solve a lot of problems, I've yet to create!
I should have this. There are two types of antiques in the world:
–The ones I can afford.
– The ones that don't fall apart if you blow on them.
Maybe I could do something about that.
Looks like a book worth having - count me in please

I've been to the North Bennett St School in Boston to learn to to use hand tools and how to make joints, plane, join, etc. What a great experience that was. Winter in Boston, hockey and basketball season, and woodworking. It don't get any better than that!
The next step in woodworking for me is to learn how to do a better job of finishing. Time to move away from wipe-on poly. Can't be afraid of varnishes and shellacs any longer.
