The Mendocino Coast Furnituremakers present “The Art of Wood,” their annual show of stunning woodworking at Oddfellows Hall in Mendocino.
There will be a wide variety of objects for sale: from cabinets to tables to chairs to relief carvings, all showing a marriage of passion and superb technique. Many of the pieces are built with native woods procured locally.
Doors open July 3, with a Second Saturday Opening Reception and a raffle on July 11. “Art of Wood” continues until its closing extravaganza at 5pm on Saturday evening, August 1, which will feature the close of a silent auction and the announcement of winners.
MCF member Paul Reiber is a local wood carver with an international reputation. He says, “The silent auction adds an exciting opportunity for our collectors to get pieces at very competitive prices, and for our members to get some work off our shelves and into your homes. Come, be dazzled.”
Many of the MCF members are graduates of the College of The Redwoods Fine Woodworking program, which has nurtured a community of fine woodworkers with the exceptional standards for which that program is famous. Says Paul, “It’s rare to see this level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.”
