Karl Hale is a woodworker who makes ball bearings do amazing things. He has gone to school on the mechanical marvels of the past, borrowing the best tricks and inventing some of his own, to create hand-sculpted wood sculptures that choreograph a mesmerizing dance of the spheres. This one, called “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus,” is inspired by his faith, and includes symbolic versions of bible stories. It sounds farfetched, but this artist makes anything possible (like the big guy himself). For me the inspiration is not the main thing; it is the mind and hand of the artist.
