Fine Woodworking On Joinery
Taunton Press, 1985.
$17.95; 128 pp.
We have a winner!
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Fine Woodworking, the Taunton Press is re-releasing a number of classic titles from our Fine Woodworking On… series.
Long out of print, Fine Woodworking On Joinery is filled with expert information that’s as timeless now as when it was first published. The book is largely about making mortise and tenon joints with 36 articles from the early days of Fine Woodworking. The articles explain how to choose, make, and use the mortise and tenon and its many variations, for paneled walls and doors, cabinets, tables and chairs. There are also a number of articles about glue and glue-ups.
Lucky BobMet is the winner. His comment was chosen at random.
Be sure to check back often for more great giveaways.

Very cool. I love the look of open mortise and tennon joinery, but I really don't use it. May have to re-thinkn that.
I love these beautiful books!
I would love this book on Joinery. I build arts and crafts furniture and this book would be a great addition to my library
As a newcomer to woodworking this book on the classic robust joint would be a great boon to my knowledge and skill.
Nice idea to promote traffic. Looks like a really nice book for my son. (I have all the stuff on my DVD of early to current issues, so I can pass it on if I should win.)
Thanks for the opportunity.

You've got to be in this one!
I understand that this "give-away is by random selection.
However, I'm in a major life transition, forsaking my previous career in graphic design, I'm returning to my first love—woodworking. My father was a carpenter and I learned the fine points of the craft from him (and others) since I was old enough to pick up a hammer. My intention is to transition from a "hobbyist" to a professional woodworking career
Joinery (especially in the arts & crafts fashion) is a passion of mine and believe it's the most fundamental aspect of solid construction of all quality woodwork. I would LOVE to have this book!
Can't wait to get a hold of this book.
I read everything I can get my hands on about woodworking and especially joinery techniques. There are so many good tips to pick up to improve my efforts to produce good projects. Thanks for all the information you publish.
This would make a great addition to my local high school shop reference library, where i mentor young woodworkers.
It is too bad that it has been out of print for a while. These make interesting reads and are a favorite to place in my shop library for referencing.

With a full set of these the woodworker's library is nearly complete
I'd love to receive a copy of this. All publications of Fine Woodworking have been fine reads indeed.
I'm in for the giveaway.
The joint on the front cover is interesting, the use of a dowel to support the short grain on the part the wedge is bearing against. It would be interesting to test how tightly that wedge could be knocked in until breakage. I suspect it would be similar to the actual shear strength of the dowel itself. Is the timber ash or elm? I think it is ash, but if it were elm it would be pretty strong anyway.
I am in for the giveaway!
I would definitely like to add this book to my collection of Taunton books, magazines, plans and DVD's.
This book is a woodworking classic and I'd love to have a copy.

Hi, when I saw your article about books it reminded me of an old books I lost, right in the middle of a projet, can you imagine. Since them I treat my books with the utmost care.
They sure are important. Keep up the good work, I appreciate
your magazine and all the good things I learned from it.
Thank You.
This book is too valuable to be out of print. If I don't win I still want it.
I love your older books. The cover alone teaches me something new. I've always thought dovetails were overrated because of modern adhesives. But then I only see dovetails in drawer boxes. Apparently there's a whole world of joinery I'm ignorant of.
I have every FWW since #1 with the segmented bowls. It will be handy to have all the articles on joints in one place.
I used to own this book, it was great. It was lost in a flood we had in the basement. I need a new copy.

I have long admired Fine Woodworking and am frequently inspired by the excellent articles. Most recently, the article on make beautiful cuttong boards by Scott Lewis, has again caught my eye as something I would like to build using the pattern of the DNA helix.

Really like hearing from Ben, the new guy. Relatively new myself, I look forward to hearing about his successes and challenges along the way.
