Recently, for my morning Sketchup practice, I drew this little gate-leg demilune games table which sports padfoot legs, a folding top, and this unusual apron with these bits that hang down over the pommels on the legs. After sharing the image of the table, I had requests from several people asking me to describe how I drew that apron. If the apron was flat you could use Push/Pull to cut out the shape but that won’t work on a bent one.
The process involves using an extension called CLF Shape Bender which is available in the Extension Warehouse. The part to be bent is drawn out flat as close to the right sze as possible and then it gets bent to fit the curve you’ve drawn to the final shape. Take a look.
By the way, if you’re interested in learning how to draw the padfoot leg, it is covered in the eBook, “SketchUp Guide for Woodworkers: Advanced Techniques.”
