Really enjoy Sam Maloof's work and this would be a very interesting read.
This would be an awesome primer for me to start on what would be a new chair making obsession.
One of my favorite woodworkers, looks like a great book!
Sounds like a great read. Thank you for sponsoring a great contest.
Sam was quite the craftsman!
Looks like a winner!
Such a talented craftsman. He's left a great legacy in his work and his home. He's an ongoing inspiration even as he rocks away in Heaven in one of his magnificent chairs.
One of my inspirations.
O.K. so I have tried for years to win one of these, this one I have got to win. So pleeeeeease pick this comment ;)
Please, please, please...
Met him years ago at his shop in Cucamonga. A great talent and still an inspiration.
Since I discovered Sam Maloof some twenty five years ago, he has been the major source for my motivation to do woodworking. He is America's iconic woodworker; the highest level of creativity ,skill, and perserverance.
My friend, Paul Vicente, was Sam's one and only apprentice. He has wonderful stories.
Wood like to add this book to our collection at the Fine Woodworking department at Red Rocks Community College.
I'd love to win this book, it's actually in my Amazon wish list.
Sam Maloof was an inspiring wood worker. His iconic rocking chairs are really works of art with their sinuous lines. Also from what I have read he was more than willing to share his ideas. It is on my list this year to make one of his chairs.

My brother lives 1/2 mile from the Maloof Estate. I can't wait to take the deluxe tour!
A self taught woodworker who, through his determination and plain hard work, honesty and amiable nature achieved world wide recognition for his pure and graceful designs. Thanks Sam, we all owe you. And thank you Fred, of course!
I like my Maloof.
Please
A gentleman and a scholar........ let alone one heck of a craftsman! I love his work.
My Sam Maloof Haiku:
Think of rocking chairs
Which woodworker comes to mind?
Sam Maloof, of course
Such an inspiration! Working up my courage to try one of his rocking chairs myself.
Sam Maloof left an indelible mark on the world of woodworking by inspiring millions of people from all walks of life. Woodworkers, artists, collectors and those who appreciated the finer things in life. His work is on display at several museums and he had over 60 pieces on display at the Smithsonian Institute.
He was asked one time what he thought of those who tried to copy his work. Not only did he look at it as the ultimate complement, he willingly shared his knowledge with others. Sam Maloof put his heart and soul into every piece he created. He said that he had seen many technically correct pieces but they lacked soul. He understood that real beauty comes from within the craftsman as well as the technical details. A comment made about his rocking chair was that it felt like the chair became part of you when sitting in it. One didn't just sit in his chair, one was enveloped by it. They were feeling the heart and soul of Sam Maloof.
Being an average woodworker I dream of someday creating beautiful and functional pieces of furniture. Sam Maloof has been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me.
I would love to win this book.
Maloof's work really inspires me.
Please, thanks!
What a great master!
Looks like a great book.

I am a great fan of Maloof's work. I would love to have one of the books.
I would love to have a copy of this book
3 Rocking chairs and counting, I'm a big fan. Very excited by this new book.
I have seen some of his work and would love to see more.
I can only hope to be one fifth the master he was.
Maloof had a singular gift that grew from what the wood offered. It is rewarding so see so many appreciate that gift from so many perspectives.
Maloof is one of my most respected and admired woodworkers. I hope to win this!
Sounds like a great book, and I would love to have a copy!
I'd love a copy.
Please enter me in the book contest.
I'd love a copy - thanks
I remember the first time I say a Maloof rocker in a photo. That was the early nineties and it inspired me to get into woodworking. Since then I have built hundreds of pieces of furniture inspired by his design. I have gotten to see many of his creations in person and am in awe of each one. I have built 7 rockers based on his design and the family loves them. My bucket list includes a visit to his California compound.
Count me in.
Sam (forgive my familiarity) was one of the greats, alongside makers like James Krenov, Edward Barnsley, Alan Peters and Robert Thompson, he understood the material he worked with and as important he understood the functionality that he had to design into a piece. I consider myself richer for being able to follow such a master.
I would love the book on Sam Maloof...
I think a Sam Maloof definition of success would read something like "the progressive realization of a worthwhile endeavor; to overcome daily the obstacles that stand before you and create things both functional and beautiful." Thank you Sam for your creative and timeless artistry that will live on through this book. Thanks also to Mr. Fred Setterberg for documenting snapshots of one of the most incredible artisans of wood in his book: Sam Maloof: 36 Views of a Master Woodworker. This book would make an exquisite addition to anyone's library.
That looks like a great book for inspiration.
I would love to be included in the contest!

I got turned onto Sam Maloof's work when Marc Spags worked on the Maloof-inspired chair in the guild. This book sounds like it will be a great read.
I met Sam in 2001 when I was visiting the US from England. A realy great guy, took me out to lunch, his local burger bar at the bottom of the hill frome his home.

I would love to read this book. I've always been interested in woodworking. My grandpa and my dad used to make benches, chairs, and the like, now I'm trying to do the same.
What a tremendous opportunity to recognize Sam for his help to this industry. His furniture finish know-how has been a staple for me. Bravo! Take a bow.
