"Choosing and Using Handplanes" looks like a great addition to any woodworkers library. I'm starting to use handplanes more in my projects so the timing is excellent.
I am a power tool woodworker who is trying to pick up some hand tool skills. I would love to see what this book has to offer.
Just the book that I need. I have been looking for some plane sense all my life.
Looks nice.
Fingers crossed! Maybe this book will settle the debate between corrugated and flat soled planes!
Boy do I really need this book.
I have my father's old handplanes from when he was a carpenter. I remember how he could flatten boards in no time with it. I sure would like to learn how to tune them up to do that.
My plain work wood would be shaved time and time again with a handy book like this on plane work. I'm flat out sold on the idea of flattening the sole, to get a thin shaving without too much slaving. This book would get my mind sharp enough to sharpen, of course, the blade that takes in every pass shavings like savings this book I can't pass (up).
Avid reader and self taught woodworker for 40 years. Never too old to learn. I can pass this one down to my son.
Looks like a good book to have.
let's try again
Maybe this time...
Yes, I'd love a chance to win this book. thanks
Having started out using power tools for everything, thinking that hand planes where history I have come to realise I was wrong. But I have some catching up to do and any extra help in book form is always appreciated.
Looks like an interesting book.

Would be a nice companion to Garret Hacks book. Thanks
Looks like a book I would like to read
I have next to zero knowledge about using hand planes, so a book like this looks like it could be quite helpful.
If at first you don't succeed, try try again.

Would love a chance to win.
Great book! Would love to add it to my shelf!
I need this book in the worst way. Somehow about 150 handplanes have crept into my shop and about 100 of them need to leave. Which ones should I keep? How do I use the ones I keep sufficiently well as to justify their presence?
Another chance to expand my library.
Would love to have this book. Trying to woodwork with less electricity and more elbow grease.
It would be great to win this!
Wish I would win sometihng!
Help, Help I can use all the help I can get on choosing the right Hand Plane. I think I have good planes, but I get poor results.
Thank You.
Looks like a great book
I have a couple of small hand planes made by Stanley and am amazed at how well they can work when sharpened and adjusted. I would love to learn more in order to buy some of the used ones I've seen and restore them to good working order.

Thinning down my power equipment and would like to learn tips and techniques for hand tools
I'm in for any woodworking book
I love hand tools and this book will surly give me ideas to improve my skills.
Has potential to be interesting.
This would be an excellent addition to my library and my collection of hand tool info.
Everyone needs a book on handplanes!
I could definitely use some more info on setup and sharpening.
I bought a set of used planes ranging from a Record #2 up to Record #7 plus a couple of specialty planes. I pulled out the #7 recently and despite being nearly new it doesn't cut worth (insert expletive here). So I tried the #6 and it was a thing of beauty to use. So what was different?
Any new tips are welcomed additions
Would love to add this one to my library.
Looks like a good read
Absolutely no doubt that I could use this - either that having Mr. Reid watching me over my right shoulder.

New to the world of hand planes, so this reference book was an excellent introduction into the selection, use and care of hand planes. Would recommend this book to anyone using planes as part of their woodworking projects.
I am going about this hand plane business backwards: I already have a couple of planes that need to be restored; now I need the information to help me accomplish the restoration. This book sounds like a great resource towards this end.
Please consider when drawing for this book; need all the help I can get. Thanks.
